Home Care Powered by AUAF: Our Beginnings and Services In-Home Care

January 21, 2020

For over 25 years, Home Care Powered by AUAF has served our communities through in-home care services for seniors. As in-home care services for seniors becomes even more important, we have continued providing steady and quality home care services.

What are In-Home Care Services for Seniors?

Home care, also known as in-home care, is supportive assistance that is provided in the comfort of your own home. If you’re a senior at risk of going to an assisted living facility or nursing home, you might find that a home care agency can provide a better option for you.

Care is provided by a licensed home care agency. The agency you choose should train professional caregivers. And they will, in turn, provide daily assistance for certain activities. Caregivers may help seniors with daily tasks such as bathing, eating, cleaning, light housekeeping, grocery shopping, medication reminders, and preparing meals. Caregivers work to support the needs of individuals who require such assistance. These services help seniors stay and live at home versus living in a facility.

Many aging members of our society find that they don’t quite fit into a category of needing or wanting to be in a nursing home or other assisted living facilities. And so instead they opt for more supportive services like in-home care. This allows them to stay and be a part of the home and community they already have come to know. In-home senior services provide a way for someone to come in and help your senior loved one on a day-to-day basis. This makes transitioning into their senior years much easier as they grow older in the comfort of their own home.

Our Beginnings in Home Care Services for Seniors

Home Care Powered by AUAF started as a result of the Coalition of Limited Speaking Elderly. Our beginnings in elder care were sparked to meet the needs of underrepresented communities. Our beginnings rest in the idea that we can serve communities through elder care at home. The in-home care aides receive training with the base goals of the CLESE in mind. Our home care aides are fluent in a wide array of languages including English, Assyrian, Arabic, Russian, Persian, Armenian, and Spanish.

Our Continuing Work and Meeting Senior Community Needs

We continue to look for ways to help serve the communities that we reach. That is why we help people understand the ways that they can become senior caregivers for their parents of family members. Many different ethnic communities have traditionally had more limited access to in-home care because of things like language barriers and cultural taboos. Thus having adult children become formal caregivers has been able to solve and mitigate the problem.

Adults in the communities we serve can look into being adult caregivers for parents they already care for, or parents they want to care for. But we make sure that those that represent Home Care Powered by AUAF are of the best quality. So we still go through a hiring and training process for everyone, regardless of whether they’re simply applying to become a family caregiver.

Conclusion

Senior care is something that we care about and continually prove through our work.
