Can I Become a Caregiver in Chicago?

Homecare Powered by AUAF offers our caregivers a competitive hourly rate of $18 an hour. This rate is dependent upon performance. Successful performance is completing and submitting monthly task sheets and timely punch in and out.

Note that this amount is higher than the average pay rate for caregivers nationwide. At Homecare powered by AUAF, we are dedicated to providing the best service through our caregivers.

Qualifications for Our Chicago Caregivers

You will have to meet certain state caregiver requirements to care for the elderly. You will have to meet the minimum of 8 hours of training required by any Illinois caregiver in addition to AUAF training. Though, you don’t need to worry about finding and completing any of the requirements on your own. Once your application is approved and you are hired, AUAF will provide you with the necessary training to complete.

At Homecare Powered by AUAF, our caregivers all go through mandatory training. There is no license that in-home caregivers can receive. You will complete the certification showing you have met basic Illinois and AUAF requirements. We require training so that our services remain consistent and of the best quality to all of our clients.

Does Medicaid Provide In-Home Care Services in Chicago?

The Illinois Department on Aging has a program called the Community Care Program. It is this program that allows senior citizens to receive in-home care. If you are eligible for Medicaid, then you are eligible to be covered for home care through the Community Care Program.

When looking for a caregiver agency in Chicago, it’s important to understand that in the state of Illinois and in the case of home care agencies in Illinois, home care agencies serve as a middle ground. Homecare Powered by AUAF trains and assigns home care aides. But, the assessment and coverage of a home care recipient are determined by a Care Coordination Unit (CCU).

Though, this doesn’t mean any more steps in the process for you. If you are applying to be a recipient of home personal care, you would still apply with Homecare Powered by AUAF. Hence, it is from there that Homecare Powered by AUAF will notify a CCU about your application for home care.

A representative from a CCU will come to assess your need for home care. Hence, you will become a client and be assigned a home care aide by AUAF after determining your level of need.

Hence, this outside organization will determine if you will be covered by Medicaid or a separate insurance agency. All Homecare by AUAF clients is provided by caregivers. And it is a CCU that will assess your need for a caregiver.
